Yahoo Hotjobs Coming Soon to www.ridgecrestca.com
Technology changes how we live every day. Take for example how employers and job seekers connect these days; via the web. For quite a while The Daily Independent has offered our classified recruitment ads online at http://www.ridgecrestca.com Very soon you’ll see a whole new look for our employment ads and searchable database, powered by Yahoo, the worlds #1 search provider.
Yahoo Hotjobs serves over 9 million job searches a month. That’s more than all of the other big names (like Monster, Career Builder etc) COMBINED. This move will allow local businesses to present job openings to a world wide audience, not to mention a local audience and all those in between (say for example Pt. Mugu).
Yahoo Hotjobs offers many benefits to both the job seeker and the employer. Employers can list their positions in much more detail, and market the position based on Keywords, Industry, Region, Job Title, Experince and more. The job seeker can create a Search Agent, applying their own criteria such as wages, experience, position title etc. When a job is posted that fills the job seekers criteria, they are emailed automatically.
Hundreds of newspapers nationwide are partnering with Yahoo, to offer the most advance recruitment technology.
I expect to be launching the new section in about a month, give or take a few days for the usual “bugs”. If you’d like to see the technology for yourself firsthand, check out
http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/
We’re also expecting our redesign to be complete and ready within the next 90 days or so, which is even more exciting! So check out the new technology, and have a great weekend everyone!

I can see that no-one has responded to this blog so I will because today is Christmas Eve. I think it is a wonderful topic. That said,no-one out here in this vastness of desert wilderness cares a hoot about local business or advertising because both suck. Go to Palmdale for good shopping or even better,go to Orange County. This is why no-one’s responded to the blog because everyone knows this is the truth.,

Fred, you are a twit. Did you actually read any of Daily’s post? Isn’t it at all possible that we are waiting for the site to be launched before we comment on it? Duuuh!
Try reading it again and pay close attention to the last two paragraphs.

Good one Ruthie. WE care about local businesses
hate to see them closing or anything. The
web site should help younger generations get
better jobs. Dont assume R/C people dont like
or support local businesses, I know me and my
family support local businesses.

I think of it as a better opportunity for businesses to reach good prospect employees. It will put RC in front of people we need here, like nurses. Granted, the employers will have to make the deal sweet enough for someone to come to the area. Also, young grads can start looking for jobs in other cities, like Bakersfield or something. If you’ve ever interviewed and hired employees, it takes a lot of looking for the right person. Whenever I used to place ads, nice big ones too, I’d still get a ton of calls from people who weren’t qualified or wanted something else….. So it will smooth the hiring process too.

to Ruthie: I refuse to be a fool. Since arriving’
in this region in 2003 I have repeatedly
encountered the most-awfully-run businesses I
have had the displeasure of getting cozy with in my sixty two years of life. Reason for this is the remoteness
out here which means little or no competition.
The people here are held hostage to this. In Orange COunty there’s thousands of people competing to get your money. Here there’s one duffwad and a bored, underpaid
employee. The reason people like Ruthie are
in fantasyland is they’ve lived here so long
that below par looks normal to them. Businesses in the RIdgecrest area can improve but this requires an attitude adjustment. That’s never going to happen as long as they cloak themselves in self-serving platitudes.

I’m looking forward to it. Any method that opens up communication as regards oportunities to the citizens of both our towns has to be a good thing…not to mention showing ourselves in our best light to the outside world. LOL.
