The owner, Tanya Harrington alleged that I threatened to "bad mouth" her business all over town. That is not true, I just wanted her to refer my phone number to the people who were trying to find me for business, as she promisedwhen I left, and did not do. I feel that whomever just posts random calls on the log should not do so, just violent and illegal items. I do business in this town, and have no recourse except to hire a laywer and sue her, which is an expensive proposition. The Kern County is not interested in finding out whether or not you are a dead beat parent, all they care about is getting the money. My husband and I are currently battling Kern County Child Support Services over erroneous claims made by my husbands ex spouse. We turned in all of our paperwork in triplicate several times to child support services however they are still docking my husbands paychecks as well as accepting these false claims from his ex spouse and we still haven’t even been informed as to what the official charges are against my husband. The only time we were contacted by Child Support Services was when they sent us a letter asking for an income and expense report, we weren’t even told what this was for, just that they would be enforcing child support (which we pay every month). After getting the run around from Child Support Services we finally contacted the help of a lawyer and are hoping that maybe they can get to the bottom of this whole debacle. So if you are a parent paying child support regularly and doing your proper duty to your child still beware, because if your ex spouse decided to make erroneous claims against you Child Support Services will not do everything they can to help get all the facts. They will simply file your ex spouses paperwork and start docking your pay. It’s funny how every time we have checked on this issue our paperwork has “never been turned in”. However they never seem to misplace his ex spouses paperwork. It’s deplorable that Child Support Services will convict innocent people of false charges without getting the facts. Nor will they give you any idea of what the charges are against you. We are lucky that we have the money and help to seek legal counsel, unfortunately not everybody is capable of paying a lawyer to fight the money hungry Kern County. For those of you who have been unjustly tried and convicted by Child Support Services of Kern County my heart goes out to you and yours. My parents and Grandparents opened Champs Market. My Mom at one time worked for the Huceks at the travel agency. I graduated in 1970 and lived in Ridgecrest most of that time until I moved to Florida 15 years. I still love the desert and the people. The one thing I hated about Ridgecrest was the majority of doctors up until the time I left were not current on up to date medicine, were incompetent and arrogant. I also did not like the way the Ridgecrest Hospital was run. I have some real horror stories from my own experieces with the doctors and the hospital there. I told my brother that when I'm visiting him in Ridgecrest that if I'm sick or hurt not to take me to the Ridgecrest Hospital. He'd be in real trouble if I wake up there. I hope things have improved since I left. I know the hospital does have many fine and dedicated nurses. I do love the brightness of the sky, the jeep rides in the desert, the mountains, the smell of wet dirt, and, after 15 years in Florida, dry heat. I'm happy here in Florida but since I moved here I have really curly hair. I can always tell when it is going to rain because my hair gets bigger. Another pro about Ridgecrest is that there is no hurricanes there. When hurricane Ivan hit I had water squirting out of a nail hole in my wall. We had about $25,000.00 to our house. Even though my husband and I will probably retire and live here in Florida, I still love Ridgecrest and miss the people there. I also grew up in Ridgecrest. The young families that move here from real cities can't stand to stay due to the lack of stores and restaurants. Now with the price of gas driving out of town to shop at real stores it just not possible. Stores and other types of businesses will bring tax revenue in that can help clean up and beautify this depressing place. Or do you just want the trash to keep coming in and bringing this place down. I once heard someone from Ridgecrest say that if we let main stream retail and restaurants come here it will bring drugs and other undesirables. Get with it the drugs are already here look around at many of the people walking around. Obviously local merchants go out of business when something better comes to town.
